A persian kard knife of the late Zand dynasty with a strong single edge damascus blade. Palmetto-shaped cut-outs and a floral chiseled gold-plated spine. The bolster with inlay gold decorations applied through both tahneshan and zarneshan technique. A smooth hilt with two riveted walrus plaques. This piece has been altered throughout its life (grip strap) and has some minor restorations. There is some age wear and some minor pitted spots on both blade and bolster. Good overall condition.
