Chillanum dagger

Deccan, 18th century

The chillanum dagger is one of the rarest weapons from the Indian arsenal. The same goes for the khanjarli dagger. This piece combines characteristics from both daggers in a seldom seen configuration. A double edge re-curving steel blade (cleaned) with two faint fullers forming one piece with the hilt. The ricasso part is flanked with two elephant’s trunks. The khanjarli pommel of bone is a later replacement with the flower rivets missing and the rivets filed off. This item is worn with age and intensive use but in good condition. A very rare item. 280 grams.
