An Indian firangi sword of massive proportions. It measures 134cm from pommel to tip. The word 'firangi' meaning 'foreign' was given by the Maratha to these swords in the 17th century because they were fitted with blades imported from Europe. Our example has a two fullered curved blade of 110 cm. Probably localy made and intended for practice / exercise or demonstration. The typical basket-hilt with prominent spike and some chiseled decoration on the handguard. The items is in good and cleaned condition. The blade and yelman are blunt. No scabbard.
