For sale from a private collection. Here we have a unique opportunity to offer a very rare folding machete. It has a broad folding double-edged maker-marked blade at the clipped-back point, folding into the knuckle-guard and locked open by a spring catch along the back. The iron hand guard, base and shell shaped release lever have serrated edges and the handle has some nice mother-of-pearl grips and two German silver pommel plates.
25 cm. blade / 52,5 cm unfolded.
Condition is excellent. Traces of makers mark 'T' and 'R'. Probably 'Licot of Namur'
There have been some manufactures registered in Belgium. Eugénie Licot (1786-1865) is recorded in Namur as well as 'Arnould' of Namur, 'A. Stomer' in Saint-Omer (France) and Denis in Brussels.
