Bikaner armoury, 18th century
Presented here is a real fighter. This is a nice tulwar sword with a multi-fullered blade. Two wide fullers and a narrow one against the spine. It's marked in the back with Bikaner dot-punch markings and bilateral eyelash marks together with some unidetified pseudo stamps. These were probably added later as a unique selling proposition to claim European origin. The back edge has a sudden 'step' near the balance point. This is where the narrow fuller ends. A feature often seen on these broad bladed fighters. Probably to enhance balance without compromising on strength. The brass hilt is of the older, elegant form and finely executed but lacks exhuberant decorations. This sword was obviously destined to do its work in battle. Condition is very good.
