A fine Deccani shamshir sword form the 18th century. The lobed shaped pommel hilt along with the typical quillons and langets is similar to Persian swords of that period. Both hilt and mounts are gilded and made of copper alloy and show very fine craftsmanship. The original green velvet scabbard has discolord over time resulting in a brownish color. The blade is of typical shamshir form with some stains and pitting. A very rare Indian sabre.
