Iron, steel, wood, leather, horn, silver

A small example of a Kothimora khukuri from the late 19th to early 20th century. Angular single-edged blade with two fullers, horn grip with iron pommel plate, iron ferrule, leather-covered wooden scabbard with large silver locket and chape pierced and chased with plant motifs. Silver throat piece with chevron rim borders and floral chasing, the lower section deeply chased with foliage including two mirrored exotic birds, the upper section with inlaid gold panel of scrolling foliage. The little pocket purse on the reverse misses the two khisa companion knives. Condition is very good.
