Luzon Bolo sword

Luzon, Philippines, 19th century

A nice Filipino bolo sword of the Matulis type from Luzon. The peened tang on the butt end of the hilt points to a Luzon origin but the blade is of the Tenegre type. The blade is made of steel and of clip-point style. Maximum blade thickness 6 mm. The grip is probably hardwood and the "D" guard is made of iron. Condition is fair with some scattered surface rust and the usual signs of age and use. Some play to the grip. The later has a small crack. Overall length is 55 cm with a 42,5 cm blade.
