Presented here is a nice Nepalese Kora sword. The slender variant of this sword is made for fighting whereas the broad bladed examples are for sacrificial ceremonies. The blade is heavy and the incurving side is still sharp. The talismanic decorations, applied in various techniques, make are example stand out from the avarage kora. Both the spine and the sides have engravings filled with red dye along with onlay gold scroll work. The cylindrical hilt is of typical construction with two thick discs acting as cross guard and pommel. Two rivets on the grip. Traces of early red dye plating that has mostly come off. Very sound item in good condition. To be dated late 18th to early 19th century.
