An indian flanged war mace composed of eight cusped iron flanges (one refitted) and a spike. A cylindrical iron shaft and a steel tulwar hilt. Remains of silver and gold-plating result in a pleasing age patina. Strong characteristic quillions ending in dome shaped finals. The disc pommel with a raised rim. The grip is sectioned which matches beautifully with the repeating flanges below. North India. Probably Lahore. The hilt is late 18th or early 19th century. The shaft with flanges and spike are 19th century.
