Here we have a fine and rather rare, late 19 century Omani khanjar dagger. It has a curved and dubble edged blade with a raised central rib, forged from good steel. The hilt shows the classical “I” shape design and is cut from a massive solid piece of Rhino horn with a silver front panel and ditto collar. The scabbard is “L” shaped and covered with silvery threads. The belt holder is made of complicate arrangements of seven silver rings, of which the outer two are bigger, and finely executed twisted silver filigrane wire. The dagger is in good condition. The silver panel of the hilt is probably a later replacement. A small chip missing from the horn at the pommel. A fine quality item considering its age.
