An interesting and very rare Rajasthan matchlock musket. It's a superimposed version meaning the barrel is fitted to hold two charges at the same time. If by accident both of the charges ignite the gun explodes. Reference sources indicate this musket is an original design and no later modification. A twisted barrel of pattern welded steel. Two serpentines but only one reacts when pulling the trigger. A hardwood sectioned stock with original ratan loop bindings. Beautifully decorated steel panels.
The full inscriptions on both barrel and stock read: 'RAJ . JODHPUR . TANTRA . TILADA 1155 ASOP 46'. A twisted steel barrel of 122 cm ending in a fluted muzzle. Very good overall condition.
