Here we have a solid katar of simple design. It was covered with a dull dark brown film when I found it in private collection. After a gentle cleaning and etching a nice wootz pattern emerged. The V-shaped tapering blade has a central ridge with bilateral sunken panels. The cross bars are bulged towards the center and faceted. The side bars and base are of thick construction. No scabbard. Condition is good with some stains and scattered surface pitting near the base of the blade. Private Belgian collection.
