Rajasthan, 19th century
Here we have a powerful 19th century tulwar with a sirohi type blade from Rajasthan. The hilt is of distinct Punjabi form and adorned with koftgari gold flower patterns. The blade is forged of damascus wootz steel and is still sharp. Condition is good with extensive wear to the decorations on the grip section. The blade is smooth and is probably re-fitted and re-etched to reveal the wootz pattern. The sword comes with a recently made red fabric-covered scabbard.
